Heavy Industrial Expertise
Grunau Company’s Youngstown, Ohio, fire protection office specializes in
systems for industrial and heavy industrial facilities such as:
• Electric
power generating plants
• Steel-making plants
• Chemical plants
• Metal stamping facilities
• Automotive plants
• Titanium processing facilities
• Printing presses
• General manufacturing plants
• Semiconductor fabricating plants
Our team is familiar with the installation
constraints, variable material requirements, and project management skills
that are specific to these industries. Projects of this magnitude
generally have a substantial number of contractors on site. We
are experienced in coordinating our work with large groups of diverse
people to install the needed systems quickly, smoothly and on-time
to meet the customer’s
start-up date. Our ability to communicate and coordinate translates into
minimal interruptions and time lost for the customer.
We are accustomed
to working with specific grade piping and the durable materials
needed to withstand the abuse and vibrations often present at
industrial plants. We abide by higher material quality standards
to ensure the long-term durability of the fire protection systems.
We
also provide system start-up testing, annual system inspections,
and performance testing of the systems as applicable.
The Youngstown office also provides similar services and installation for
fire sprinkler systems for commercial, retail, health care, institutional
and multi-tenant residential properties.

Room Integrity
Tests
A clean agent system often is used to
protect sensitive electronic equipment found in many computer
and telecommunications rooms. Our Youngstown fire protection
team conducts room integrity tests to verify that an enclosure or room is adequately
prepared for a clean agent system. Rooms are pressurized to find potential paths
of agent loss. If a clean agent system already has been installed, we can re-confirm
that the integrity of the enclosure has not been compromised.

Network Control Systems
At our Youngstown office, we have the unique ability to design, fabricate and
install fire detection, fire alarm and network control systems to meet client
specifications. Our integrated network systems are designed to provide fire detection
and alarm control for individual areas of a large complex. When the local system
detects an abnormal condition, it alerts the facility operator to its exact location.
This helps to quickly and accurately direct a fire response team as needed. We
provide annual testing and servicing for our network control systems as well.

Areas of Specialization – Special Hazards Protection and Risk Assessment
The leadership at Grunau’s Youngstown office has been installing special
hazards protection systems for nearly 40 years. Special hazards are an especially
important concern for facilities like coal mines, coal burning power plants,
nuclear power plants, gas turbine plants, and steel, aluminum or titanium mills.
We have the expertise to address hazard issues such as high intensity fires caused
by flammable liquids, dusts, or gasses that are common at these sites. Our team
also helps owners conduct risk assessments to protect their investment.
