A hearty salute to Grunau steamfitters Charles Cluney, Matt Dickinson, Emily Lindl, Anthony Matysik, and Joe Olson for participating in the 30th Annual “Heat’s On Project”. This was a charity event that inspected and serviced heating systems for 95 military veterans in Madison & Dane County.
Steamfitters Involved
The event took place on Saturday, October 7, 2017, with a total of 70 members of Steamfitters Local 601 participating. In addition to complimentary furnace checks and cleaning, repairs were made where needed. Rather than paying costs of $500-$1200, the volunteer labor and materials were donated. Therefore, the veterans were very appreciative.
The “Heat’s On Project” was established in 1987. It ensures residents have working furnaces and consequently not have to face life threatening circumstances. It is a collaborative effort between Madison Area Mechanical & Sheet Metal Contractors Association (MSC), Steamfitters Local 601, and local area suppliers. To date, they have checked over 2,500 homes in Madison and Dane Country. The next program is tentatively set for Saturday, October 13, 2018.
